The Culter Pipe Bands have a long and proud history spanning decades. Beginning in 1938, the 47th Culter Boys Brigade Pipe Band was formed and played for many years at Boys’ Brigade parades and local events. By 1980, the band became members of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and from then began a period of rapid growth and great success.
1983 saw another significant event with the formation of our senior band – Culter & District – who adopted Rob Roy with the BB crest on his shield as their emblem, symbolising the band’s roots with the BB and the village of Peterculter.
Since then both bands have experienced success in their respective grades.
In 2023, the senior band, now a Grade 4A band, achieved 2nd Place at the European Pipe Band Championships with our previous Pipe Major Andrew Patterson and Lead Drummer Lachlan Gibb at the helm.
In 2025 we repeated the feat under Pipe Major Neil John Robertson at the Scottish Championships in Dumbarton, coming 2nd in a very competitive grade 4a.
The band looks forward to the 2024 season where our new 47th Culter Boys' Brigade Novice Juvenile B band will compete for this first time!
